Tails From The City is not animal control or a 24/7 emergency rescue.  We do not go out to trap or pick up animals.

We are an all-volunteer rescue that has a managed intake procedure.  We take in friendly, adoptable cats/kittens.  We set up appointments to have animals dropped off by the person requesting our help at a location that we try to make mutually convenient for all involved.  You may be asked to hold onto the kitty/kitties for several days/weeks until we have space at our shelter or a foster available to take in your requested surrender.

When you are requesting assistance for strays, please provide the following information:

• city you are located in
• number of animals you are requesting help for (and ages of kittens if you know)
• temperament of the kitties (friendly/scared/feral/etc.)
• health of the animals in need

If we can help, we will reply within 48 hours.  If we can’t, we may try to offer alternatives or suggestions, but we are not able to respond to every email, or emails that simply state “I have a question, so please call me at this number.”  Since there are only so many hours in a day, our focus is on helping the ones we can.

The best thing you can do to help is to take the animals in and put them in a spare bedroom/bathroom/etc., and keep them friendly by socializing/interacting with them.  Do not let them around your resident animals.  Rescues will be able to help friendly kitties, but it will take time for us to work them into our systems.  Please be patient as we are working our way through many more emails, messages, fosters, animals – all while maintaining regular jobs and typical life events!
